I knelt down to get him out of his stroller and put him in his carseat and saw what I thought was several bug bites under his chin. I thought maybe a bug had got stuck in between his chin and chest and bit him a few times (I WISH) as I looked more I noticed a HUGE mass of whelps all over his left side of his face down his neck and on his chest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
His face was turning red and I was SO scared! My coupon clipping friend Bonnie was with me with her two little ones since we were doing our first real life shopping trip to Walgreens so she saw it all. I jumped in the car and took off...not really knowing where I was going but in a panic. OF COURSE I ran into traffic on Man-O-War around Hamburg and I'm sure onlookers thought I was having a road rage fit as I was saying "MOVE" to all the cars. That trick didn't work!
Anyway after thinking fast I pulled into the Lexington Clinic at Andover and ran in screaming "HE'S HAVING AN ALLERGIC REACTION!!!!"
Bless all of them. The Dr. and nurses were PHENOMENAL to say the very least. I owe them BIG TIME!!! BIG TIME!!! They rushed him in and started helping him instantly.
It was SO scary...and at one point we thought we were going to need to be transported my an ambulance to the hospital. Thankfully they got it all under control fast and he was fine. OBVIOUSLY he is allergic to something...probably peanuts. I am now the carrier of an epi pen...and we have scheduled an appointment with the allergenist. Wish us luck.
Today was scary. Very scary. I'm so thankful I was close enough to a good dr. and was able to get him the help he needed FAST.
I haven't broke down and cried yet...I know it's coming though. It's amazing how STRONG mommies can be when they are needed.
I know there are lots of mommies who have little ones with allergies. Please share with me your stories.
